I just finished reading this book and I already want to read it again. It is filled with so many great lessons and life advice. It teaches you how to get the thing you want to be doing and put it into your life forever. This book will help you accomplish any of the goals that you want to reach.

The book…

Atomic Habits by James Clear

This book has been the most influential I think I have ever read. He makes you want to get up as you are reading and start building the habits that will better your life.

One of my favorite things that James Clear does is he gives you real-life examples on how to implement the steps to building atomic habits. These real-life examples help put his words into action. Sometimes self-help books can be so vague that you don’t know how you want to put that into your life, but James Clear will give you step by step plan, and then you have no excuse.

I think that one of my favorite ideas from this book that is filled with so many great ideas is to get 1% better every day. Most people want their lives to get 100% better in one hour which for most people will never happen and is very unrealistic. This idea of wanting to get 100% better makes it hard to even start working towards that goal since it is so far out of reach. This is why I love the get 1% better every day.

Getting 1% better for most people is very easy and that compounding effect will make for a huge improvement over the long haul. For some people only getting 1% better does not feel like enough but it’s not about that day it’s about the long life you will live and the total effects of 1% better every day.

Some of my favorite quest from Atomic Habits are:

“When you fall in love with the process rather than the product, you don’t have to wait to give yourself permission to be happy. You can be satisfied anytime your system is running.”

This quote is something that has been running through my mind for a long time. “Falling in love with the process.” As humans, we are all so goal-driven creatures. We want to win the race or catch dinner first, but what many of us don’t think about is what do we do when we accomplish that goal. James Clear talks about how if someone’s goal is to run a marathon they will stop running when they run a marathon but if your goal is to become a runner then you will run forever. “Falling in love with the process” is something I think we all need, we need to love working out and stop worrying about the gains. I think this would make many people happier in their daily lives.

“Be the designer of your world and not merely the consumer of it.”

I love this quote because it feels like so many of us these days just consume content all day and let others tell us what we should do. We need to start focusing on what we want to do with our lives and stop letting others control it. You have endly possibilities of what you can do with this life and you should never stop until you are endlessly happy and fulfilled. Start making those habits that will make you successful and stop letting life pass you by.

This is one of those books I will keep for the rest of l my life and I think that everyone can benefit from reading it. Even if you feel you have good habits in place James Clear does a great job in explaining how you can make them more efficient and truly get you to be the best version of yourself.
